The 10 Oxherding Series
As part of my MFA degree work at Whitecliffe College I created an interpretation of this ancient classic tale of the search for our spiritual self. The search is based on a young man who is bewildered and afraid – his ox has gone missing and his heart is broken. Things have not turned out as he hoped. In his search for the ox he gradually understands that life is not as black and white as he thought, but help is at hand, and he eventually integrates the opposing parts of his personality to embody compassion and kindness. He escapes the endless cycle of birth, death and suffering.
